LAB CREATED DIAMONDS
Cushion Cut Diamonds
The cushion cut is one of the oldest diamond shapes, evolving from the Old Mine cuts of the 18th and 19th centuries. Its square or rectangular outline with rounded corners gives it a softer, more romantic appearance than a princess cut, and its deeper pavilion produces exceptional fire — the coloured flashes of light that brilliant cuts are known for.
Before buying a cushion, you need to understand the two distinct faceting styles. the “Cushion Modified Brilliant” which usually feature an extra row of facets and the “Old Miner Cut”. A modified brilliant has smaller, irregular facets that scatter light into a shimmering, glittery pattern — similar to a radiant. Neither is better, but they look dramatically different from each other.
