LAB CREATED DIAMONDS
Oval Cut Diamonds
The oval is a brilliant cut with the same faceting pattern as a round diamond, which means it delivers comparable sparkle — but with one significant advantage: it faces up larger. It also creates a flattering, finger-lengthening effect that makes it one of the fastest growing shapes on the market today.
The most important thing to know when buying an oval is the bow-tie effect — a dark shadow across the centre of the stone caused by uneven light reflection. Every oval has some degree of it, but a well-cut stone minimises it to the point where it adds depth rather than detracts from beauty. The bow-tie is not noted on a grading certificate, which means you must carefully consider the proportions of the cut.
