LAB CREATED DIAMONDS
Marquise Cut Diamonds
The marquise has one of the largest crown surface areas of any diamond shape — carat for carat, it faces up bigger than almost every other cut. Its 56 facets are arranged in an elongated football shape that terminates in two points, creating a bold, dramatic outline with a strong finger-lengthening effect.
Symmetry is critical with a marquise. The two points must align perfectly with each other, and the left and right sides must mirror each other exactly — any deviation is immediately apparent once the stone is set. Like ovals and pears, marquise diamonds exhibit a bow-tie effect that varies from near-invisible to severe, making the proportions table below your most reliable buying tool.
