LAB CREATED DIAMONDS
Princess Cut Diamonds
The defining feature is the inverted pyramid pavilion — V-shaped chevron facets that converge toward the base of the stone, producing a sharp, cross-pattern sparkle when viewed face-up. The princess retains more of the original rough stone during cutting, which means a larger finished diamond for the same rough material — one of the reasons it is typically less expensive than a round of equivalent carat weight.
The princess carries no official GIA cut grade, so proportions are essential for assessing quality. It is also worth noting that princess cut diamonds tend to retain body colour slightly more than round brilliants — for a white gold or platinum setting, a colour grade of H or above is recommended. For the best value, prioritise cut quality first and consider going one grade lower on colour or clarity than you would for a round.
